On this week’s episode we head back to the steam-punk inspired sequel TAI CHI HERO [太極2英雄崛起].  Then Kevin brings up up to speed on the latest Patrick Kong romantic comedy NATURAL BORN LOVERS [天生愛情狂].  Finally, I take a look at the strangeness of the game-inspired sequel SILENT HILL: REVELATION.

We also discuss the the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney, and interview scholar Wei Ping about the HKFA ghost screening series being held in November.

  1. Sorry, Internet… I know it took hours of creative effort to Photoshop those mouse ears onto Darth Vader, but I survived the “Disney buys Lucasfilm” story with my brain relatively un-fried. I was at Disney World this summer and the writing was on the wall… the place was awash in Star Wars/Mickey mash-ups, so it’s not like this came out of left field.

Plus, like Kevin, I only really care about the original trilogy — and still can’t buy the version I saw in the theaters — so it’s not a huge part of my life today. Curious to see how the new movies turned out, but my sanity does not depend upon the outcome.

PS: Yeah, Solomon Kane! That turned out way better than expected.
