East Screen / West Screen #35 – Salt of the Earth(quake)

iTunes Page

Running Time (01:07:17)

This week’s episode features a spoilers segment at the very end of the podcast, after the closing theme and NG section.  There is a discernible bumper in place as well so if you have not seen the film in question you will want to stop listening at that point.  I am not sure if this will be a regular feature or not (depends on the feedback we receive on the segment) but it will pop up from time to time if/when we go to far into a film’s plot.

  1. I now like Yes Asia on Facebook 🙂

Great show as usual – love the spolier idea at the very end of the show and look forward to seeing that utilised as often as possible

Where did you get that intro music? It’s kinda fun!

  2. I was browsing through Ella Koon’s youtube videos and noticed she actually used the ESWS intro theme in one of her blog videos. Just sayin’!

    1. @ David – Thanks, we both think the spoiler section will allow us to go more in depth on some discussions, but I never wanted to do it in the middle of the podcast because it can be hard to time properly so that listeners who don’t want to hear it can bypass it (unless you create an enhanced podcast with chapter points, which has a downside of its own). The spoiler theme was just an alarm from the Garageband / Logic Studio database with a modified loop of me saying spoiler ha ha…

@Tinlun – The intro/closing theme is also a mix up of a Garageband / Logic theme called ‘Catwalk’. The good thing about these themes is that if you own the software, you get to use them royalty free. The bad thing is that everyone who has a MAC and the software uses them…so they are everywhere. I am a bit surprised that you would find them used in a music video, I actually heard the theme recently on a RoadShow ad and thought I was listening to the podcast for a moment, but then I realized I did not have my headphones in, lol. I have actually commissioned a local musician to create a custom theme for the show which will be rolled out for the 1 year anniversary later this month.

  3. actually, i don’t think ella koon used it in a music video. she posts random videos of herself while she’s on tour in north america. kinda like a vlog, so to speak.

    1. Ah, I see. That makes a bit more sense then, since I would guess she is just pulling from the Logic Studio database over to iMovie to make her web videos. I guess I just associated ‘video’ and a HK star with MTV style stuff ha ha… The logic studio mixes are pretty good, but there are not that many and with the amount of MAC users doing audio/video these days, its getting more frequent to come across them.
