  1. I believe the Japanese manga series that involves Stan Lee’s input is titled “Ultimo” which is published in English by Viz Communications. And is Stan Lee’s cartoon with Arnold Schwarzennegger still in the works?

  2. I doubt that truly global digital film releases will happen anytime soon (for blockbusters anyway) — there are just too many interested parties and too many issues to resolve. Netflix is being forced to hold new releases back a month in order to give DVDs a chance to sell, and just lost 250 Sony films over a licensing squabble.

If anything, I could see things sliding backwards for awhile as more players get into the game and fragment the market. (we may end up having to use a Sony service to watch Sony movies, a Fox service for Fox films, etc.)

And I’m a huge fan of the first Conan movie, must have rented it 50 times back when VHS movies were an $80 special order. Also read the books and Marvel’s bloody Savage Sword of Conan mag as a kid… but I don’t have high hopes for the new movie. Can’t put my finger on why exactly, maybe it’s just the fact he’s not Arnold. But I also far prefer the practical effects of the original to the CG I’ve seen so far. The giant mechanical snake was actually there — even if it didn’t do much, it had a presence that the creature in the trailer seems to lack.
